Born in Kugane to a Raen courtesan and a wartime soldier who vanished before his birth, Shinya Strife was raised among the women of a brothel who became his found family. His mother, determined to give him a better future, filled his youth with stories of a brave father and instilled in him a deep respect for women and a reverence for hard work. As he came of age, the shadows of the city noticed him... and so did the Yakuza boss Old Man Yuma, who took Shinya under his wing and molded him into a capable merchant, negotiator, and artisan. While loyalty and skill earned him success, grief over his mother’s passing led him to finally open the letter she left behind... and with it, a path to a sister he never knew existed.Guided by a name... Nanao... and a bundle of questions, Shinya journeyed to Eorzea to uncover the truth. After a long and winding search, the two met in Gridania, where truths were exchanged, bonds were cautiously formed, and Shinya began to forge a new chapter of his life. But even now, much of his past remains veiled in secrecy. He keeps his true life—the dealings, debts, and decisions forged in shadow... carefully hidden from his sister, protecting her from the world he walked to find her.
